Many construed from Head's reply that he put the BCCI 'above ICC'. Meanwhile, Steve Smith called the BCCI "powerhouse" and termed the ICC "not as powerful" before backtracking and qualifying the ICC answer as a joke, before labelling the sport's governing body as "leaders".

The replies were witnessed in a video shared on social media, wherein Head, Smith, Nathan Lyon, Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell, Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey were asked to define the BCCI, the ICC, and Indian cricket as a whole in one word each. Their replies elicited all kinds of reactions online.
