MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) held a job fair on Friday for over 12,000 graduating beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

By the closing bell, the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) shed 0.26 percent, or 19.31 points, to 7,437, snapping a two-session winning streak.

The job fair, called “Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas,” offered opportunities from 94 participating employers. It was held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.

In his speech, delivered on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Special Assistant to President Antonio Lagdameo Jr. congratulated the graduating 4Ps beneficiaries.

“Ito ay inyong tagumpay—simbolo ng inyong pagsisikap, pagtitiyaga, at determinasyong tumayo sa sarili ninyong mga paa,” he said.

“Nilalayon naming mas dumami pa ang ating mga kababayang may kakayahang tugunan ang kanilang sariling mga pangangailangan. Dahil ibig sabihin nito ay higit na marami pa ang mag-aambag sa pagpapaunlad ng ating bansa,” Lagdameo added.

He also reiterated the government’s commitment to providing jobs to every Filipino.

“Ang hangad namin sa inyo, gaya ng lagi nating sinasabi: Walang maiiwan at walang mapag-iiwanan sa Bagong Pilipinas na ating itinatatag,” he said.

Aside from the career expo, the 4Ps graduates—now job seekers—were also oriented on different government services, such as financial assistance that will cover pre-employment requirements like medical exams and transportation allowances.

Additionally, DOLE conducted a session on the “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers” program, which benefited 1,000 fire victims from Isla Puting Bato in Tondo, Manila.
